We were heartbroken, disturbed, and angry to hear the news of the two mass shootings that occurred in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio a few weeks ago. For too long now, we've been caught in a predictable cycle of "thoughts and prayers", people calling for action to be taken in regards to a comprehensive plan for gun reform, the ensuing debate, and the inevitable stalemate where nothing productive happens. Too many of us have become numb and complacent; subscribers to a defeatist mindset due to the lack of forward progress after countless tragedies.
'How Many More?' is a plea to our lawmakers, politicians and leaders to ACT NOW. There is no other developed country on the planet that has a rate of gun violence as high as the United States of America. This is not a political issue alone, but a public health, and a mental health issue. Yes, it is a constitutional right to bear arms, but that does not mean everyone is qualified to own a gun, just as not everyone is qualified to drive a car.
A portion of the proceeds made from this song will be donated to The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (
www.csgv.org). Our intention is not to preach, but to (hopefully) stimulate a healthy conversation through our music that will lead to some form of advancement, whatever that may be. The message is simple: Too many lives have needlessly been lost. Too many innocent people have become statistics. Enough is enough.
How many more?
